  5. GURTOOL HSSE turning tools

In a Czech turning factory, experienced toolmakers and turners produce selected tools made of HSSE steel under the brand GURTOOL developed and manufactured.

The combination of high-quality materials with precise European manufacturing and corresponding know-how guarantees unique quality and longevity of the tools, combined with modern shapes and appearance.

HSSE High-performance high-speed steel with added cobalt

The European steel used is an HSS (high-speed steel) that is enriched with cobalt to increase the cutting edge hardness and hot hardness.

This means that the cutting edge has a longer service life and there is less risk of annealing when grinding. The knives have an optimal hardness of 62-64 Rockwell (HRC) for wood turning.

    Oiled ash wood handles

The handles are made of very tough ash wood. The octagonal shape prevents it from rolling when put down. The swing fits ergonomically very well in the hand.

If you grasp the stronger part of the handle, this tool can be used to forcefully plunge into the material. If you grip the back, weaker part of the handle, the knife can be handled very sensitively.

The surface is elegantly stained black and then oiled. The open-pored finish protects the tool and maintains the natural wood feel.
