FAQ Woodturning - All information about woodturning machines
What are the differences between hobby and professional lathes?
Hobby lathes typically have a simpler design with less advantageous materials (sheet metal feet, plastic parts, etc.). Professional machines offer more power, stability, and smoother operation – important for large workpieces or continuous use.
What is the correct speed?
As a rule of thumb: small workpieces → high speed (2.000 – 3.000 rpm); large bowls → low speed (500 – 1.000 rpm). Always choose the safest speed – it's better to start a little slower.
What does "stepless speed control" mean?
With electronic speed control, you can adjust the speed directly on the control panel. On machines with a frequency converter (inverter), this operating range is particularly large on a single belt drive. This facilitates precise work and increases user comfort.
How do I properly maintain my lathe?
Clean the bed regularly with grease-free cleaning agents, remove shavings, lightly oil moving parts and check belts for signs of wear.
